LeoCAD parts for NXT®
- 9797: MINDSTORMS Education NXT Base Set
- 9648: Education Resource Set {supplemental parts for NXT base set}
- 9684: Renewable Energy Set II
- Unzip Nxt_kit_LeoCAD_parts.zip somewhere
- Start from a fresh LeoCAD 0.75 installation
- Launch LeoCAD
- Launch File > Pieces library manager
- In this window, File > Load update, and select cleanup.lup you just unzipped (this will remove the old NXT parts if needed, avoids to get them twice)
- then File > Load update, and select updatnxt.lup
- When update is complete, close and re-launch LeoCAD.
All NXT kit parts should now be available.

Update 07-2007: Bothered by the
weird rendering of orange color in LeoCAD, I have compiled an
unofficial version that imports, displays and export correctly
this color.
Update 01-2008: I have been reported that the
orange-capable LeoCAD version that I published here had stability
problems (especially with Undo). This should be corrected now,
just download and install it again.
Update 01-2008: Now
updated with the improved quality parts that I submitted to
LDraw Parts Tracker.
Update 02-2008: Color sensor, RFID
sensor and RFID tag added.
Update 02-2009: MUFTI has prepared a LeoCAD library including the official parts and all parts from these sets:
Orange-capable version of LeoCAD: Bothered by the weird rendering of orange color in LeoCAD, I have compiled an unofficial version that imports, displays and export correctly this color. To use it, replace the LeoCAD.exe file from your installation with the one extracted from this ZIP file. Since this is not an official release... use it at your own risk!
Thanks to the work of several parts authors (Kevin Clague, Steve Bliss, Matthias Paul Scholz, Marc Klein and myself) who were in Mindstorms Developer Program, mockups of NXT parts were modelled in LDraw. At the end of 2007 I made a complete overhaul of these parts to get the level of quality required by LDraw Parts Tracker.
Here is an update for LeoCAD library containing all these parts plus all unofficial LDraw parts included in 8527 NXT kit.
Warning: This update is provided only as a convenience solution for people longing to model their NXT creations. Parts number, origin, orientation might change when these parts become official, so use this at your own risk! Check often LDraw Parts Tracker for improved versions. You will also find there several parts not specific to 8527 NXT kit but that have not yet been delivered in an official release.
